hey,

I am about to start a architecture course at university in a few weeks and would like to know if there are any good programs for it, preferably with 3D capability aswell.

while not actually a CAD program, Blender has some good architectural uses with the right settings. otherwise, i like QCaD, but i'm not a super user by any stretch, so it may not work well for you.

QCaD is pretty nice as stated above. You should probably look into it.
