well im in college and im going to be taking my comp to school and want to know if there are good "word" apps.
or any other good apps for school?

What are "word" apps?

If you are referring to a word processor, OpenOffice.org Writer (installed by default) is very good.

ya a word proccesor
is there somethign more fancy? like Microsoft Office 2008?

OpenOffice is really the best you're gonna get.

There is also Abiword (http://www.abisource.com/). The version in the Ubuntu repositories is old, so you'll probably want to follow the instructions on the Abiword wiki for installing on Ubuntu (http://abisource.com/wiki/Install_on_Ubuntu).
