I would like to teach a friend of mine how to use a computer loaded with Ubuntu. Should be simple, but the challenge is our individual languages. I speak, read & write English and he speaks, reads & writes Spanish. He speaks a lot of English but reads very little of it. I know very little Spanish. I assume that I want to load 2 computers, 1 in English and 1 in Spanish, but I am not sure if that is the best way to go. I need ideas and help. Since I am a newbe I am open to any suggestions.

First run the Live CD on his computer to make sure that his hardware is compatible with Ubuntu. Be sure to back up any data that you or him don't want to lose.

Second, are you planning to install Ubuntu on the whole hard drive with the Live CD? If you are then have him with you when you install in Spanish. It is pretty simple to install.

Third, it would be best to just use the Spanish computer because different languages have different menu set ups. Just help him with the basics, getting on the net, word processing, and anything else that he might need. Just take it slow and don't give him too much information at once. Let him explore and learn at his pace and not yours.

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond to my post. I others have gone down this path and a little bump in the right direction goes a long way.
Thanks again

Another thing to consider, it's the keyboard.

In spanish we use an extra letter: ñ, which is not found in english keyboars.
Keep close the character map, as we use a lot of accents too.

Thanks again. It's the little things that I have not even considered. Do you have any suggestions on where to get a Spanish keyboard?

If you set up a Spanish keyboard, the character will be there. What you could do also is look for sticky key tabs that have the character there. Also other characters may change places.

Well on an us/international keyboard you can depending on the settings, type ~n and it will become ñ automatically.
