View Full Version : [ubuntu] Evolution crashed when I send email
September 3rd, 2008, 10:06 PM
I have a fresh install of Hardy but when I use Evolution to send an email as soon as I press send, Evolution just closes down.
Does anyone know what would cause this?

Yeah, it souds most likely that you have 'entered' your ISP 'details'..wrongly.
Go back through the 'Set-up'...and, correct. (If you also use XP, in a Dual-boot 'set-up', can you remember 'how' that was done?)
When you 'think'...you have it Right....send yourself a 'test e-mail'.
IF it comes back...with what you typed in, like a 'special saying'.....you just know it is working!
(That's how I set up Thunderbird, in Kubuntu. Have used Evolution, like Thunderbird better,)
You could be trying to use the "Root-password"...for your 'e-mail setting'...DON'T!
Use the 'Username/Password'...your ISP gave for your Account with them. (That's what it is for.....so you can get on line...with the Username/Password they gave you.)

Ubuntu is the only operating system installed on my PC, I don't have dual boot. The logon details are correct and even if they weren't this shouldn't cause the application to crash. I have installed Thunderbird and this works fine which is why I am curious to get to the bottom of this issue.
