I am using Gutsy on my Dell Inspiron E1505 lappy. I recently decided to go ahead and install the DVD support as it is really the only thing my system is lacking. I installed all the right packages through synaptic, yet no matter what program I use I just get a pink screen in the media player. I have tried Totem "Movie" player, VLC and Mplayer. All of them have the same effect. For awhile in Mplayer I could see a tad bit of the video on the menu screen, but it was very garbled up by the pink everywhere. Another thing, when Mplayer launches the DVD, the drive is VERY VERY loud for some reason. I have searched all over the forums and the web trying to figure out what is causing this. Anyone have any ideas? I have tried older and newer DVDs also.
