I have an HP dv9000 laptop with Centrino core duo 2 architecture. All the intel documentation says that the core duo 2 cpu (T5450) is a 64bit processor. The bus that supports the intel wireless wifi link 4965agn is also 64bit. Because the 64bit version of ubuntu was labeled AMD64 I installed the i386 version. My wireless will not work. unbuntu sees the 4965agn but neither it nor the bus is activated. I can connect to the web through wired ethernet, but I need wireless.

Will migrating to the 64bit version solve this problem?

thanks,

joel
