View Full Version : [ubuntu] Ubuntu's too "big" (DPI?) (screen's included)

I've been using Ubuntu for a while now but I just can't stand how "big" everything just seems. To be honest, this is the only reason I haven't used my Ubuntu partition in a few weeks now (yes, I am very picky).

I'm guessing this may be a problem with the DPI settings but I'm not sure how to view them or change them in Ubuntu. I solved part of the problem by installing msttcorefonts. While that fixed the view of the web pages, my browser still seemed huge.

I've included screenshots just to give you an idea of what I mean.

Basically, is there a way to make everything seem smaller, like it is in Vista, without installing any new desktop themes or anything, or am I stuck with the size?

If you head to System->Preferences->Appearance and go to the font tab, try taking the font sizes down to 10 or 8. Also mess with the smoothing options.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion. I took everything down to size 8 and it helped a lot with the huge fonts in Firefox and with the Window Title being big.

I guess my problem is fixed now, thanks a lot!
Ima start using Ubuntu again!
