If you want to create a poll like this you really should include a lot more distributions, there are about 350+ atm.

*buntu and Knoppix are Debian based.
Where is Debian itself?
SuSe?
PCLOS? (based on Mandriva I believe)
Where is Mandriva?
Gentoo (including DSL etc?).. I don't get this, what's the relation?

Best distro based on WHAT? Everyone has their own preference and you can't decide that based on a seven option poll. Why do we even need to see which is best - it's not a competition? Every distro has their own philosophy and fans and one persons favourite is another persons worst. That's what makes Linux so fun! Even Windows can't make a "best" version - they make six versions and you pick the one that suits your needs best. Whilst you could say Ultimate is the best version of Vista (as it has the most and is the most expensive) you need a very powerful computer to run it and you get a load of stuff you probably don't need.

As a heads up, without even looking at the poll so far I have a feeling that the "winner" is going to be Ubuntu (just a hunch). My favourite is Arch but I wouldn't say it's the best, it's the best for me.

PS: just looked at the poll - why did you vote for each yourself?

Of those, I prefer Slack-based. SliTaz is also really good.
