Greetings,

I've been trying to get 3d acceleration using the proprietary driver on and off for sometime. I've searched the links here and across the net with little help. The open source nv driver works w/o trouble at 1650x1050. I'm currently trying again running Hardy 8.04.1.

Xorg.conf:

# xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file)

# values from the debconf database.

# Edit this file with caution, and see the xorg.conf manual page.
# (Type "man xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
#
# This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*

# again, run the following command:
# sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

The screen went into power saving mode and no keys or mouse movements would bring is back. So I did the Magic key sequence :)to restart and entered rescue mode. Looked through the logs (saved them) noticed the nvidia_new wasn't found so I used modprobe to load the driver manually. Got no error message. Went back to rescue menu and resumed regular boot.

This time the screen was blank and it didn't go into power saving mode. Just sat there. So I did the magic key sequence again went into rescue mode and change my xorg.conf back to nv driver to get X back.

This is frustrating, since looking at other links there are some people who have this card and/or monitor (but not both together) working. Since I get a blank screen after the module is loaded, could my xorg.conf be missing something?

TIA
