hello people, I'm new in linux, I use Ubuntu 8.04 x64, and the problem is my surround system, only two front speakers are producing a sound but the other (subwoofer, centered speaker and two side speakers) are silent, without any sound. I followed steps http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=205449 I found on this forum and I managed to install proper drivers, but I cann not find any manual how to make my 5.1 system work correctly (I tried to use alsamixer via terminal and so many other ways but I just cannot figure it out), so if there's anyone who knows how to help me, please help me, help me, help me, help meeeee!
ps. my soundcard is HDA Nvidia with Realtek ALC883 chip

thanks and best regards!(ps. my english is bad so if there's any gramatical nonsenses please forgive me ;) )

Hi,
Well i have a similar problem with my 6.1 Creative Inspire speakers. I tried a lot of things, but could not get the other speakers to work.
I came across this link:

Though it worked for him, it didn't work for me. So you might want to try your luck following this.
