[SOLVED] Hosting .wmv video comes up as gibberish

Can anyone tell me why Apache (or Firefox) is serving (or interpreting) a .wmv file as:

and not actually launching a video player such as Totem or VLC?

I tested this with my neighbour's laptop running Vista and FF3 as well.

The file permissions are 775. Am I missing something?

Can you play wmv from other sources? For Firefox to play wmv, you usually need to have mplayer and the mozilla-mplayer plugin installed. Nice how-to at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=540412

I can save the file onto my desktop and watch it fine, it just seems like Apache is serving the file as .txt by accident.

It was a MIME problem in Apache.

I needed to add this to my .htaccess:

AddType video/x-ms-wmv wmv
