I've noticed two issues trying to use gnome-terminal and I can't seem to find any info about how to solve them:

1. Sometimes when new content is being displayed in the terminal, the font gets all messed up. I can usually fix it by selecting the text and then unselecting. It seems to happen fairly frequently when scrolling through the back buffer or compiling software. I tried disabling compiz, but that did not have any effect. See attachment.

2. Intermittently Shift-Ctrl-V sometimes won't paste, it just switches my cursor from a flashing solid black cursor to a white cursor with a black outline. The white cursor with the black outline stays until I release Shift-Ctrl-V. Shift-Insert always works.

Thanks for any tips!

1.
Have you tried different fonts?
I'm using Monospace 8 myself.

Well, to be honest, I don't have an answer..
You can try another terminal to see if it's GTerm specific.
Like xfce4-terminal (my choice), aterm or xterm (maybe installed already?).
