Hi all.
Not long ago i installed ubuntu and its a full tower PC with an PCI EXPRESS ATI RADEON 2600 HD XT graphics card, i have been reading alot of previous posts but cant seem to make much sense :(

question; my ubuntu is configured to work with my ATI card using an priority device, now i dont know if thats a good thing or not, so i went to the offical ATI website and download (ati-driver-installer-8-8-x86.x86_64.run) and double clicked it, no luck, so tried to run it in terminal no luck...

if i install this downloaded from ATI's website would my graphics card function better?, as currently i cant seem to make full 100% use of my graphics card.

any help greatly welcome...

EDIT:
I managed to install (ati-driver-installer-8-8-x86.x86_64.run) but when i run ATI CATALYST CONTROL CENTRE it says "there was a problem initilazing catalyst control centre linux edition. "
