After Powerloss no network

Hi,

im Using Ubuntu 8.04 since 2 months and everything went fine.
But yesterday my cat walked ofer the power button from my Powersupply and the System just went off.
As I restarted the system, i had no network connection.

The eth0 interface is configured as before, but theres no way running the pc in network.

I tried to set eth0 on static entries, so i gave it a static ip.

If i do so, at least some ping-packages go through network but i have a loss of 50-60% from the packages.

What could it f.e. be?

If you have a spare network card, you might want to give it a try. It sounds a bit like the network card may have been shorted.
