Need help to connect to a wireless network

I've tried some of the "guides" too connect to a wireless network - and I can't connect to one, even there is several around me. Do I have to download 'Network manager' or something?

Got a HP Pavilion dv6014ea computer. Network card is Broad~ something.

you can try another network manager such as wicd.

My connection is a normal WEP connecting with password. My wireless connection is still not working - Wicd did run my wired connection realy good. Somebody got an idea on how I can fix this?

Should I intall NM again or what? And how do i reinstall NM? Tried to search the internet.
