Hello All,
Can anybody who have used WINE (for Windows applications on Ubuntu) in Ubuntu face any issues etc.,?

I mean to say, how efficient/secure is installing WINE over UBUNTU for windows applications? I am aware of the fact that UBUNTU is pretty stable. If i plan to install WINE now, will it affect the stability and performance of my Ubuntu in anyway? Please advise.

ALso, I appreciate if you could add few PROS and CONS of installing WINE over Ubuntu 8.04
Thank you all in advance

There is an annoying bug with some popular wine application with ubuntu 8.04 like ies4linux - the apps takes 100% cpu.
I am not sure if this bug related to wine or to ubuntu, but in 7.10 version the bug was not exist.
so, I suggest you to try using wine and if you having problems, you can always uninstall it.

I installed Wine 1.00 from the Ubuntu repos on 8.04 and there were no problems at all with the installation or during use. I regularly run three Windows 95 or 98 programs that are essential for me and they all run normally. Having done this, I really don't need Windows for anything anymore. Read the FAQ and user documentation at winehq.org for good information.
