I have downloaded the new UbuntuCE and have been trying the live CD. It is just what I have been looking for and will soon be on my hard drive. Thank you Jereme.

But I have one very basic question, please.

On the CD there are both Bibletime (KDE) and Gnomesword (Gnome). Is one generally thought to be the better, or are they both similar and you choose which you want? I know nothing about either program, that is why I am asking. It is just that I don't want to spend weeks trying them both out.

I definitely don't want to start an argument on the thread, but I would appreciate some advice, please.

Thank you all.

BibleTime is a KDE app and GnomeSword is a Gnome app. Both use the same sword engine. I find that Bibletime is a little easier to install the modules, but once you install them in Bibletime they will also be in Gnomesword, which indicates that they are the same program just different UI's.

Thank you for your explanation, cjm5229.

I did not realise that they were both front ends for the same sword engine, thinking that they were two entirely different programs.

As an old-age "stay at home" Christian, sword and the other programs in UbuntuCE will be of great help to me.

My mother has been a "stay at home " Christian for about 40 yrs now. Knows more about the Bible than most Bible College professors. Linux does have some great Bible Study tools, and Wine has done such a great job lately that most Windows Bible Study Apps will run better than they do in Windows. I really recommend eSword quite highly. "in the beginning was The Word" is another great Windows app that will install directly to wine. The new beta version has a new module that will install modules from eSword and several other sources. Right now it is a seperate addon, but They say it will be integrated once it goes final. eSword needs a little tweaking to install in Wine, but david_kt has an excellent how to on these forums..
Enjoy Ubuntu CE
and God Bless you
