well for the life of me i could not add a shared directory to XP in virtual box using the command it said i was supposed to use.

so i went hunting and found this

click start ->my network places-> add network place

click next

click "choose another location"

click next and then click browse

click entire network

and you should see "virtual box shared folders"

now click on the shared directory and answer the simple questions...

man, now i understand why configurations via shell are sssoooo much esier then gui

hope someone finds this usefull

Well, I suspect that there is more to it, cuz I cant really see anything when browsing the entire network. Some suggest that a \\vboxsrv\shared should work but it doesn;t to me... any hint n what I'm missing here? I also have set the shared folder on the vbox setting...

thanks

i can assure you that this does work. i have setup a number of virtual xp machines and done this and it works just like it says.

having said that, if you would be so kind as to start a new thread with your errors in it i will be glad to chime in and help you sort the issues out

feel free to send me a pm with a link to your new thread and i will help you out so everyone can learn

i bet it will be nothing more then simple configuration that needs to be changed
