Hi,

I'm using Ubuntu Breezy on my laptop and am in 4th year of college. I have no internet access in my house but do in college. However we are assigned workstations that use windows/ubuntu duel boot. I have no access to package manager though because I don't have password for the machine and obviously the college isn't keen to hand them out.

Is there a way I can download packages without using Synaptic and is there a location where these would be located so I could browse what would be in a respository in Ubuntu and just select it like I would with Synaptic but through a web interface so I can just download the packages onto a USB pen and put them on my laptop that way or do I have to trail the web for .deb files and install from source for all my software needs.

Wow, what University offers Win/Ubu in dual boot?

It's only the Computer Science department at our university but it's the national university of Ireland Maynooth.

Oh and are synaptic repositiories available over something like FTP so I can get packages without access to synaptic so I can install them on my laptop.

Okay, if I install synaptic in my home folder from HERE (http://packages.debian.org/unstable/admin/synaptic.html) can I download packages to my home folder or will I just muck everything up?

Okay yeah I sort of resolved it. I can dowload the .deb files from the http://packages.ubuntu.com/breezy/ site. Not very handy or practical but I got GNU Octave and GBU Plot this way.
