Fix My Left Click (Laptop)

My left click doesn't work half the time. Sometimes it works good with zero problems. Other times I have to press it really hard. There is a mark on it where I have used it so much.

How can I clean this/Fix it.

I have an Acer Aspire 3680.

It sounds as if the button is physically prevented from making contact. It is possible that some dirt or debris (food, skin-flakes, hair, etc.,) have got caught in the mechanism.

If you have access to a high-pressure air-compressor (or local car garage) you could try blowing it out.

Depending on the construction of that model, you might be able to release the small circuit-board that is behind the touch-pad buttons without opening the main case.

Alternatively you could do what I do with my notebooks. Every few months I release and remove the keyboard and clean it thoroughly (with compressed-air and tooth-brush), and I also completely open the cases and do a general clean and check.
