i'd like to play doom3 so i'm trying to configure my graphic card ati 9100 in order to activate dri and 3d accellerator, so i've downloaded and installed (using synaptic) the fglrx and fglrx-dev packages. but as soon as i change the driver line (from ati to fglrx) in xorg.conf file, after a few minutes everything freeze up and the only thing i can do is rebooting. please help.

It's a well known fact that ATI drivers and linux don't mix well, I also doubt
that you will be able to run doom3 at any reasonable performance at an 9100.

My best advice is to get an geforce graphics card (6600 or better)

i had some experience under fedora and the performance weren't so bad. any way i think you are right and i think i go for new nvidia graphic card. thank
