It certainly seems that Ubuntu is intended to be a standalone, does-it-all type of distro with as little programming required as possible. And it does that, for which I am thoroughly impressed. It is a great package.

However, updating to the latest LMMS with its brand new radical architecture changes seems to be bogged down. Not sure if it is ever going to get done, trying to figure out how to get it done now. It's not going to get done with Synaptic's less-than-current version of cmake 2.47. Building these newer versions within the umbrella of Ubuntu seems to be just about impossible. Am I missing something here or is there hope to get this stuff done within Ubuntu?

I haven't had any issues building from the source myself. Just install the needed -dev packages from Synaptic, and it's all set.

I also haven't had any issues compiling the latest LMMS.

LMMS 4.x or 3.1? Done through Synaptic or from source?
