Its the only thing holding me at a standstill. I was able to get my creative zen to work with gnomad2, but now I need a virtual machine to run the stupid window's zune software. I love the zune as an mp3 player, but hate there's not a simple way to connect.

What would be the best virtual machine to run in ubuntu 8.04? I know all the online tutorials say vmware, but most of those are from 2006. Is there any other product besides vmware that I can use and still get the same results? I ask bec I can never find a vmware install in .deb.

If there isn't could someone point me in the direction of a updated tutorial on how to install? Thx

You can use VMWare Server, VirtualBox, or probably KVM.

See the stickies at the top of these forums, including :

Does the zune software run in Crossover or Wine? I would think that unless they have intentionally crippled it, it should work as long as WMP and the codecs are installed in wine.

Basicly you are looking for the easy answer, but there isn't one. Zune software just can't be emulated to Linux with WINE. (As of Now) The only workable solution is to dual boot or run VMWare. When using VMware you have to disable the USB 2.0 support which cuts you down to 12/mbs which is the same speed as the Zune's WiFi B, if you take the time to set up networking.
