I am running Ubuntu (7.10) on a Dell Optiplex GX270. My problem is that the CD drive won't work anymore. It used to work, but hasn't since I installed a second hard drive. If I try to mount the drive, I get the message "mount: special device /dev/scd0 does not exist."
It appears that the device scd0 actually doesn't exist. It doesn't show up in the /dev directory or when I run lshw. So I think this is a problem with the hardware itself or with Linux's detection of the hardware.

Any ideas?
