View Full Version : [ubuntu] Can't get the second hard drive up

August 23rd, 2008, 06:24 PM
I've just got through installing Ubuntu 8.04 64 bit on a new system with a 64 bit CPU (of course)
I'm absolutely amazed at how nicely Ubuntu installed.
The only problem is that the system has a second SATA HD and, although, it shows up as a SCSI,(which I've read is normal)it didn't mount.
This second drive shows up in the BIOS so no problem there.

Now, I know if you click on System>Administration, there's supposed to be a "Disks" tab from which you can format. BUT, it's not there. There's no "Disks" tab.
Anyway, I've read about the code to mount second HDs but they seem to conflict and I don't want to screw things up.
I'd sure appreciate any input on this.

Tanks, M

Go to Applications, Add/remove and search for "gparted" Install it. That will allow you to work with the drive to format, partition and generally screw things up. GRIN!!

Hi and welcome, please do not make multiple threads on the same issue.

Is you second drive found under Places?
