Hello, I installed hardy a couple of weeks ago on my lappy, an advent 7017. (this is the first time ive really used linux properly so a bit of a newbie.
Everything went smoothly, (took me a while to get wlan going but now all ok)
I am having some problems with the graphics however. this machine has an ATI mobility 9000, i have read lots of posts about this card but I'm struggling to find any answers which i get tbh.
I currently am using xserver-xorg-video-ati 1.6.8.0-1. I've tried the other ati ones with mixed results. the current driver gives direct rendering, best performance and little to no corruption in the GUI. but i cant help thinking there must be a way to unlock more of the performance and features on the card.
I'm confused by my xorg.conf as under device it simply says configured video device and thats it.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
