View Full Version : Need a New Way to Burn Time

I do not care about platform, Operating System, or cost.

I need a new hobby. That is computer-related.

I am aware of such things as 3D animation (I played with Blender for a while,) programming (I mainly apply it to work-related problems - this is not a hobby,) Computer-Aided Design (I love Autodesk Inventor, but nobody around me needs my work,) webdesign (I have no skill at all with this - ie. I am a "lynx" user's fan,) and image manipulation (I toyed around with GIMP and Photoshop, but again, nobody needs my work, so I have no skills to train.)

Am I missing anything?

I need something to fill my time and be useful. I am primarily asking for things I do not know about here (I can do video editing [stupid example] with a computer?!) But pointing me to needy communities would also be a major help (People at "www.forgeme.com" are always asking for 3D models and have accurate specs.)

Please help me be useful. I can make money writing Windows exploits and if I am idle for too long, I might start doing something illegal.

Come to think of it, I used to use this website before I got fed up with English and am now stabbing around for a secondary language.

Meh, I suppose I could just find one and devote my time to studying it. Will need to travel around though for that.

I like the idea, for different reasons.

Video Editing, if you still have a windows partition, get a trial for Sony Vegas. It's not the best, but one of the easiest programs to learn editing wise, I want to say it took me 3 days to learn the ins and outs of it.

I'd second both the music and video ideas, both of which are media which go beyond the spoken word, and both of which can be enjoyed on a computer.

Thank you very much for your time.

I probably will try to settle onto a new language and run with that.

I am, unfortunately, the owner of a tin ear and zero creativity. While design would be great to learn, it is wasted on me.

Thank you.

Start playing couterstrike source.

If you want you can create new weapons skins, player skin, even entire levels.

Add them to http://halflife2.filefront.com/ should you do so.
