I use a Lenovo Thinkpad x60 (screen resolution 1024x768 ). I have an acer widescreen lcd display (resolution 1680x1050). I want to be able to hook up this monitor and have both screens working at their native resolutions.

It is extremely important to me that I am able to quickly and easily disconnect this screen. I would like to find a way to use the key on my laptop for toggling the external display (fn-f7) to toggle between using this external monitor and just having the laptop's native display in use.

How can I do this? Right now when I plug the monitor in, nothing appears on the screen. Pressing fn-f7 does nothing.

Getting all the Fn key options working is not always the easiest thing to do.

If you'd like dual/extended monitors though, could you please post some more info?

Your xorg.conf would be good place to start.

Also, what type of vid card is in the T60?

What drivers have you installed?

Try to be as technical and specific as possible, and add as much info as you can think would be useful in regards to your system and it's settings.

Cheers
