Ok, I'm not sure if this is possible, but here's what I'm trying to do...

I have ubuntu installed on my dell inspiron 1300 with a 14.1" screen using the i810/i815 chipset(8mb+128mb shared graphics).

however i would like to use my vga out and view on my 19" monitor.

The resolution on my laptop is 1280 x 800 but my 19" screen needs to be running at 1440 x 900 to make it fit correctly and clearly. My other machine runs at 1440 x 900 on this monitor fine.

When activating the vga out it seems to be sending a signal of 1024 x 768 to my 19"(or so the screen tells me)

So what I'm asking is there anywhere i can change the settings to the desired resolution?
