If you want to share the internet connection, this (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Internet/ConnectionSharing) may be helpful.
Does the Windows box have an IP address?
(Yes) What is it?
Can it ping the Ubuntu box?
Is it in the 192.168.0.XXX subnet?
(No) Is it DHCP address?
