Well, me and King Peter (aka Link) are starting a Runescape clan just for Linux users. There's no RS level requirements, you just have to use Linux :) Here's more info:
Q. What is the Linux Users Clan?
A. The Linux Users Clan is a clan of Linux (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux) users. If you didn't get that from the name, then stop reading now, because you're too stupid to join ;) . As for what we do as a clan, we're a RuneScape (http://www.runescape.com/) clan; if you're looking for a clan for another game, you've come to the wrong place.
Q. Who founded this clan?
A. It was founded by doorknob60 (http://lu.penguindevelopment.org/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=54) and I. Doorknob put his Clan Info field on Zybez RuneScape Community (http://www.zybez.net/community/) to "Linux Users" and asked other Linux users to do the same. I decided to take it one step further, and asked him if he'd co-found the clan with me. And here we are!
Q. Who can join?
A. We typically expect our users to use Linux (duh), although there are no objections against Linux enthusiasts who use Linux part-time. If you hate Linux or penguins, or are a Microsoft/Apple fanboy, then begone. (Insert deeply offensive statements here.)
As for the requirements, there are no in-RuneScape requirements. Outside of RuneScape, we expect you to not be an idiot, and to like and at least occasionally use Linux.
Q. How do I join?
A. First off, register an account and validate it through email. After you've done that, post a topic in this forum with your RuneScape name, your name on these forums, a short introduction about yourself, and preferably some information about other clans/forums you're a member of. If your "résumé" checks out, your account here will be added to the clan members group and you are officially a member :) . You will not get full access to the board unless and until you post an introduction topic or personally contact me or Doorknob.
Q. What do you do, as a clan?
A. Basically, we hang out and be geeks :D . At the time of writing (the day the clan was founded), there are no particular events that we have planned, but we're always open to suggestions!
Q. Is your clan based on any geographical locations/time zones?
A. Nope.
Q. What is the Linux Users Clan's homeworld?
A. To be determined :) . doorknob says World 60 :D
Linky: http://lu.penguindevelopment.org/index.php
So if you wanna join, go do what the FAQ says, and you can PM or IM me if you want to ask me any questions.

Did you register yet? We have 3 users newly registered, but no mooglemage10. Anyways, glad you're interested in joining :D I thought it would be near impossible to find members :-P

my name there is the same as here(before pinky say's anything it's not misser), although I've not played in a while, net's running slow.
PS: when I attempted to join I got told: "You don't have a high enough rank to join this clan", do I need to wait for you or something?

I would if I could get Runescape working, it just crashes Firefox, and it has a white box in the middle.

If you're on 32-bit/x86 Ubuntu, run this command:
sudo apt-get install sun-java6-plugin ; sudo update-java-alternatives -s java-6-sun
(I think that's the command, I'm in XP right now)

Apperantly people are supposed to post an application in the Applications forum before they're account gets validated, I didn't quite understand that, but post an application first and they we can troubleshoot the problems. EDIT: Crap I meant to add this reply to my previous post...EDIT: New registration method:

Hi, the runescape applet is now working, it is now just the matter of not making Firefox close down as son as it says 'Performing login'.
Thanks.

If you're trying high detail, try low detail. Sometimes HD likes to crash, particularly with the 32 bit Java...

Ok, this isn't exactly something related to the clan, but it's runescape related, so maybe I can ask here:
My cousin(a runescape addict :) ) is staying with me for a week or two, of course he needs to be able to play RS.
So I set up Java6 (latest version from the site), tested it with a few simple games, which worked fine, then I went to RS website.
Low Detail works OK, but my cousin wants the HD version.
When I try to load that, it was loading very very slowly, I had to close and open it a few times because it would hang and then stay there.
and when it finally loaded, it was very very slow, as if it was running on software 3D acceleration or something. I have an X1650 Pro, with drivers correctly configured, I play a lot of games much more demanding than this, Savage 1, Urban Terror, so this shouldn't be a problem..
Thanks for your help in advance! (and maybe if it works ii will make him join your clan :P )

Gah im really bad at computers...
ok so i went to terminal put the code in beside were it says zach@zach:~$

December 6th, 2008, 10:10 PM
it doesn't show your password or anything as you type it, just type your password and press enter, it still works(or you can replace sudo with gksu in the command for a version that will show little blobs, but that's a more annoying version)

Oh, wrong package, sorry. You what would be easier, install all the closed source usefull stuff at once:
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras
when that finishes close firefox and re-open it, about:pluginsshould list java then.

I put in that code and it came back with:
E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11 Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?
you sure that was the right code?

Just restart, that will usually fix it. Then try the commands again.
