I have a cellphone that Ubuntu isn't able to mount. I got Windows XP installed on VirtualBox. With the cellphone I got a mini CD with software to move files between the phone and my computer. But when I run the software in XP it says that the cellphone can't be mounted.
Is this because Ubuntu can't mount it, or something with VirtualBox?
If you want to you can give me links to decriptions of how to try to mount the cellphones USB in Ubuntu.

You didn't mention which version of VirtualBox you have installed. The version in the Ubuntu repos does not support USB. So head over to theVirtualBox web site (http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Editions) and grab a copy of the other. Also while you're there get a copy of the Users Manual. Good Luck :)

The copy I use is the one from Sun's website. Version 1.6.4 is what it say.

The edition you'll need is the closed source edition. You can get it by selecting the "Binaries (all Platforms)" link at the top of thispage (http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads). The user manual download link is on the same page just below the "Binaries (all Platforms)" link. Good luck and enjoy!!!!

Check this (http://www.ubuntugeek.com/howto-install-virtualbox-16-in-ubuntu-804hardy-heron-including-usb-support.html) link. I followed it and I could add my external hdd as usb device. But it isn't clickable when my virtual pc is running, so I'm stuck at that step...
EDIT: fixed it!
If the link above doesn't help you, try this (http://www.ubuntu-unleashed.com/2008/04/howto-install-virtualbox-in-hardy-heron.html) one instead. This one relies more on the useage of the terminal, but it helped me out. Hope it helps ;)
