Hi
I have never programmed Java in Ubuntu before.I use Ubuntu Fiesty Fawn and JDK 6. What are best practices for developing Java code in Ubuntu.
Specifically:
1) Which editor can I use for developing the code
2) Is it possible to use an IDE like Eclipse?
thanks

Not only can you use an IDE like Eclipse... you can use eclipse itself!
(Think you can get it by using the Add/Remove programs thingy)

Yes - you would be able to use Eclipse IDE for your Java development.
Just take a note though, that the Synaptic Package Manager install the Eclipse Callisto simaltaneous release. The Europa and Ganymede releases of Eclipse are yet to make inroads into Ubuntu repositories. (I think there is some problem in terms of licensing, as mentioned by someone on the bug tracker).
As long as you are developing for Java, Callisto shouldn't cause issues. But if you are after other languages, the plugin compatibility would cause some issues.
