I had Ubuntu for a while and never got around to sorting out my speakers. Other Linux distros worked with my speakers. So can Install windows drivers for them?

Windows drivers will not work for sound cards in Linux, but pop into the System -> Preferences -> Multimedia System Selector and mess around in there to see if your sound works again, switch between ALSA, Pulse and OSS...
Also, double-click on the volume control in the tray and edit the preferences to turn ALL of the switches ON, sometimes front/rear speakers for your sound card may be the problem...
