Firewire kaos from Barcelona!!!

Hello from Barcelona,my name is Michel Miralles.Im an spanish musician.I worked with Windows XP and exclusive Software like Cubase (with the ******* USB key..),but one day I could listen to Richard Stallman in a conference in Barcelona two years ago,and...you can see where Im now...My audio interface is a firewire Terratec PHASE x24.For my new project I thought work only with open source software and I installed Ubuntu Studio 8.04.I past last two weeks knowing the diferent system,but I cant make sound the sound card.I saw it's not suported by Alsa or any other driver.I hope Im wrong.
Forums and users pages talk to an eperimented user,and it's impossible for me,coming from the Windows desktop,to know where writte codes and comands.i know it's a part of the game,anf I enjoy really learning myself.I love diy in everything,but I have a work for next months and I would like to use only open source software.
I think I need help...

I knew there was terminal,but when I pasted code,ask for a password.At the end I cant put drivers.
I begin next monday a Linux course.
I will suck the teachers brain..
