Uninstall Kubuntu-desktop from Ubuntu Server

Hi,

I have just started using ubuntu server. As I was not sure how to configure things from the command line, I installed the KDE desktop enviroment using sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop.

This worked fine and I have got the server up and running with the services I need. Now I would like to remove the KDE enviroment and all of the other stuff that comes with it (e.g. openoffice, konqueror, etc)

I used sudo apt-get remove kubuntu-desktop which seemed to run ok. But the next time I rebooted I got KDE again.... Is it possible to completely remove this and return to the normal terminal interface?

Try:

sudo aptitude remove kubuntu-desktop

Thank you windependence.

The first method did not work, but thankfully the last method worked just fine, although I am surprised that it had to be so long winded. It would be great to have a single command that can remove an X enviroment like the one to install it.

You're welcome. Just FYIm if you install with aptitude instead of apt-get, then you could have uninstalled with just one command. Good thing though, you got it done. Glad to help.
