Diablo II - Graphical distortion problem

I have successfully installed Diablo II using Wine on Ubuntu 8.04. The game runs and has audio, but I experience this strange graphical distortion when I'm playing. The odd thing about it is that this graphical distortion doesn't occur until I cross the bridge to get out of the first town into the wilderness. Here's a screen:

Have you tried the GLide to OpenGL wrapper?
