I'm contemplating replacing my old DV camcorder (the viewfinder has gone on the blink and the auto-focus is pretty unreliable).
I'd rather not get another DV or a mini-DVD recorder.
Do HDD camcorders appear as external drives when connected to the computer? Are there any brands to avoid?
Alternatively even better would be if there are available or upcoming any SD card based units that have a proper viewfinder (all those I've seen only have the fold-out LCD screen, which is pretty useless if you want to track moving objects or to record outside).
