try first to disable 'choose menu element' sound event
go to :
system>preferences>sound, sound event, user interface, 'choose menu element'
and choose no sound at all.

this will prevent esd from 'keeping' sound for a few seconds. most of the time this is enough for games to run with sound.

feel free to correct my post since i do not use english langage files ;)

in french / pour les français ça donne :
système>préférences>son, 'événements sonores', 'événements d'interface utilisateur', 'choisir un élément de menu'

I know it isn't custum to show people links to other threads when they ask questions. On this ocasion however, I feel oblidge to point out that you really should take a look at this post.

i wasn't asking a question, just trying to give a tip that people can find easily, so that i do not have to answer the same 'i got no sound while i play' question again & again ;-)

btw your post is very interesting. a lot more complicated than my one but very interesting.
i don't need this since i don't have sound problems at all by now, everything works the way i want ; but it may help some people :)

I'm glad to hear you're system is running fine, I miss interperted it had sound problems. My bad ;)

The solution in the other thread is complicated, however it only needs to be done once.
