Hello,
i 'm a former windows user, which i still use sometimes and there is one tool that i think is missing from the gnome environnement.
It is a simple application for managing mime-types and application association such as the one in windows that manages file-extension and application.

Maybe it does exist and that my research weren't good.

On the other hand, if such an application doesn't exist, i think we should think of doing it.
I'm pretty motivated to start this but i need some tips about how the thing is handled in gnome.
I found out that all the mime descriptions and all things are now handled by freedesktop which is a good thing for uniformisation of the desktop. I found files about it in /usr/share/mime or /usr/share/mme-info.

I also found some things about mime and gnome in /usr/share/applications and /usr/share/application-registry/ but i don't think i found what i wanted.

if someone could help by providing some links to documentation it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx in advance for your help and for further evolution i hope :)
Fabien
