Hi Guys

I recently bought all the components required to build up a nicely Home Theater PC, all items have arrived safelly and mythbuntu is already installed so far so good

Here is the list of components :

1- Gigabyte GA-73PVM-S2H GeForce 7100 Micro-ATX (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
2- Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 3.16GHz (1333FSB) - Retail
3- Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX (2x2GB) 1.8v
4- LG GGC-H20L Blu-Ray Reader & HD-DVD ROM Serial ATA Drive - OEM
5- Maxtor Diamondmax 22 500GB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM
6- Case "MozartSX VC7001SNS" http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/Produc...C=1328&ID=1434
7- Internal Smartcard reader IS07816 T=0 and T=1 protocol Floppy Bay ACS
8- Skystar HD satellite PCI

My goal here is to achieve something that no Payperview sat provider has achieved yet.

As you can see i have bough myself a Hi Definition Mpeg4 sat tuner for european television and also a Internal Smartcard reader Floppy Bay is07816 T=0 and T=1 protocols in order to make my susbcription card work in.

I have 80% of the system set up hehe i even get my wheater forecast setup ehehhe.

Now i only have left to configure my sat tuner skystar HD in order to make it work with mythbuntu, and my cardreader slot.

So therefore my first question is

1- Does anynoe know where i can get more info, relating to sat tuners and how to install them in mythbuntu if they are not available in their default package?

P.S- I have played HD blu-ray movies in my workstation with no problems at all over HDMI, unlike many other people reported to have problem with this motherboard, perhaps because i am running 3.16GHZ CPU + 4GB RAM DDR2 800MHZ 1.8v
Also browse apple trailer movies in h2.64 format with no problems at all.

Thanks

This forum is not about how to defeat encryption on satellite broadcasts, which is what I assume you are doing with your smartcard reader (also from your reference to pay per view). Please don't ask questions about how to defeat your provider's encryption (if thats what you are asking).

DVB-S cards are well supported in mythtv, if they are supported in linux. http://linuxtv.org has a DVB wiki that has a lot of info about what is supported.

I don't know about your card, but if it is a DVB-S2 card then it may not work as yet. Most of them don't seem to, but as I say linuxtv.org wiki will have more info.

Hi

No no no no no no

I did not say i want to defeat anything, all i said is a Pay for a subscription and i would like to make the card work directly on my HTPC smartcard reader in order to enjoy the full features of my HDTV graphic cards.

Which in reality is far better tha the custom STB.

Not to mention if i want to stop my tv and move directly to my media library or to browse the net i can do it instanstaneously.

I think that is the purpose of a HTPC correct ?

Thanks
