Hi everyone,
I've got a laptop with a rather obscure graphics card: a unichrome S3 onboard card. I am running Windows XP fine, but whenever I try to boot to Ubuntu (or xubuntu), either by running from the desktop CD or after installing to a new partition, the system hangs, and displays this:
*starting anac(h)ronistic cron anacron [OK]
*starting deferred execution scheduler atd [OK]
*Starting periodic command scheduler crond [OK]
*Checking battery state [OK]
*Running local boot scripts (/etc/rc.local) [OK]
After this, nothing happens. Trying to run the startx command always fails. Is this hardware completely incompatible, or can I fix this somehow?
