View Full Version : Windowed MythTV frontend for standard Ubuntu install?

I'm in the process of trying to get a Mythbuntu system working. While I sort out the ATI video playback issues on the combination frontend/backend machine, I'm using my laptop as a frontend. I have installed mythtv-frontend only at this point.

Is there any additional package or setting to make the frontend a standard-style window (i.e. with window decoration)? The "windowed" setting is ok, but the result is a window which has no border and can't be easily moved.

An optimal setting, which I had seen in old ATI TV Wonder card Windows software that I had about 5 years back, would be the ability to either ghost (overlay) the TV on top of the main screen with some adjustable transparency, or change the desktop background to be the TV (or allow fullscreen with other windows on top of it).

Do any of these settings or options exist in a frontend? (or should I be asking in the MythTV forums instead?)

If it is of any help, you can alt-click-drag windows in the standard linux window managers...

Thanks for the info - I'd forgotten about that. I am using Gnome on this machine... most of the time at least... so that should come in handy.
