Mac Mini hangs when booting with external drive switched on

Hi,

I using REFIT to boot my Mac Mini. When I have my external USB drive switched on when booting the Mini hangs with an empty white screen. I have to switch the Mini off and disconnect the harddrive. I'm not sure if it is REFIT that hangs or if it is the Apple firmware.

The external disk is NTFS formatted and is not marked bootable by the partition table.

Any idea how to get rid of that behaviour?

nope it is a common problem though. My Mac used to hang if I had my iPod connected to it. It think it is just refit though.
