So I want to use Wine to emulate D2 on Ubuntu. I have seen some of the guides to doing so on these forums elsewhere, found by search, so that's not really the problem.

The problem is, I want to be playing on the EEE PC 4G under a 800x460 resolution. Will the 800x600 get squished by Wine to be put in the screen? Will it be playable? Should I just give up and wish that I had a better portable computer for the game?

EDIT: D2 = Diablo 2 + Lord of Destruction expansion

I have a 4GB Eee PC with a gig of RAM running Ubuntu. That seems a little bit ambitious to me, given the CPU and screen resolution limitations of the Eee PC. But you can always give it a try and see (Wine doesn't have to take up any extra screen real estate at all afaik).

To be honest, I hadn't thought of the CPU speed, because of the fact that D2 is such an old game. I figured that the CPU speed that was built in wouldn't be a problem. Then, I'm mainly worried about the screen res.

Do you, or anyone for that matter, know if Wine will just shrink the fullscreen res of the game to the one that the computer is running? I just don't know how Wine will behave... or if it will do that whole scrolling screen thing, which wouldn't work, obviously.
