Dear Ubuntu forums,

We are glad to inform you that we are now launching our official website in the Philippines: http://ubuntu.icafebusiness.com managed by seasoned professionals with extensive knowledge and background in computers.

Our team has been in the Internet Cafe industry for more than 7 years, helping Filipinos to setup and start their Internet Cafes. We had just recently launched a cheaper way to connect to the world wide web and have an i-cafe business at a fraction of the cost by including Ubuntu on all of the computers that we sell and setup.

For Filipinos expert in Ubuntu, we are looking for you. Let this be a job opportunity to earn money. Please email us a brief description of you and your knowledge in Ubuntu to qualify.

We want to see Ubuntu O.S. on every Internet Cafe in the Philippines soon.

Thank you and more power to the community!

Hmm, very interesting. I've been planning on opening up an iCafe myself (or should I say, re-open a computer rentals - we used to have one way back 1986 if I remember correctly, and closed down 1992).

The iCafe I have in mind will be 80% Ubuntu64. 20% WinXP Pro (well now its Vista64 since we can't buy XP anymore). I recently started reviewing games that will run in Ubuntu64, and trying to make other local online games to run as well, so I'll be ready once I have the PCs ^_^

A new revolution is brewing. Let's show the country that we don't need to rely on expensive licenses to run an iCafe and Gaming Centre business.

:D

More power!

To icafebusiness,

I read your site and I believe this will create waves. I am an ubuntu user for almost 2 years and I've seen great improvements. I am also thinking of putting up an internet shop in Manila with 100% ubuntu/linux installed. I am ready to take the plunge.

Anyway, I would like to share idea/suggestion with you if you don't mind.
Maybe, let's call it a challenge.

1. Energy conservation. I am looking for an internet setup with the best powersaving idea. PCs are huge heat sources, is there something we can do about it? I will run airconditioning just for people. PCs have there fans built-in.

2. Minimalist. Ready-made PC cases have big footprints and useless volume. Is it possible to find the smallest case? The lesser screws, the shortest cables? Or better yet, get rid of those gargantuan cases and do a real thin client. I know that ready-mades are damn cheap but can we think of better setup that will take this kind of business to a new level.

3. Cables. Is there a way to drastically eliminate most of them? Wireless?

4. Since you are entering Ubuntu world, get ready to share your ideas.

To all,

Ubuntu is built thru sharing of ideas and actually doing it. Can we do the same thing with internet shops? Do you have any blueprint to share?
(Icafe, who have the guts to break the mold, maybe able to help us build these blueprints.) Will you, Icafe?

I found this in forum.

Any improvements possible?
