I just received my 10 disks that I ordered. I announced on the "LInux in Libraries" list that I am on that I had them for anyone that wanted them. I now have one left and have ordered 50 more. I really like the concept behind the Ubuntu distribution. Other distributions seem to be driven by people who know Linux laready for people who know Linux already. Ubuntu seems to be much more about getting it out there to all including the curious with little to no linux experience.
I just installed it on a very old 380XD IBM ThinkPad that was my first laptop. It runs great and is fast compared to Windows 95 that was on the machine inititally.

from shipit.ubuntu.com:
The Ubuntu team will send you Ubuntu CDs at no charge, for you to install and share. We will cover the cost of shipping the CDs to you as well. So the answer is - no, you don't need to pay anything.

Didn't have to pay postage when I received mine and it was via UPS. I have yet to hear of anyone having to pay.

Just got mine! How cool is it to get a package from Switzerland? I think this is the first package I've gotten from outside the states.

Lessee...mailed one off to my brother in Georgia (USA, not the other hemisphere) and gave one to my boss this morning. Hmm...I've got to go to our regional HQ in Long Beach tomorrow to pick up a new server (W2K3, dammit) - I think I'll take packages to a couple of the more helpful IT guys there...
"Bread cast upon the waters", indeed...

Some postals you may have to pay, but none that I've heard of. I get mail often from outside the US (India mainly).
