Hi.
I have a new laptop for 4 days, and i decided to try ubuntu live cd. I went into the BIOS, boot up from the cd, but then ubuntu asked me to choose drivers for the monitor and the graphic card, and i choose a generic monitor, and a nvidia 8 series driver for the graphics card (my graphics card is a 9600gt, not a 8 series but i thought it would be ok...). After choosing the drivers i clicked "test" and then some messages appeared and the computer made a restart, but after the reset the monitor is always turned off and the HD doesnīt have any activity, I suppose itīs not starting windows..
By the way, the last thing the monitor showed was a total white image before the restart.
Im really pissed, never thought this could happen.
I really apreciate any help.
The notebook model is a LG S510.

Power off and if you have the laptop plugged in to AC unplug it.
Remove the battery. After a minute or two replace (put the battery back in) and start up the laptop normally. All settings should be reset.

Hi,

I'm trying to find out if Ubuntu works well on an LG S510, but info seems to be scarce...

Anybody got it running on one of these cool machines...?

Cheers.

Live CD wont do any problem.

First you should understand some basic knowledge of OS installation

Linux does not support Latest Graphics card, it will take time for the programmers do deliver and Driver update for Linux. Till then you have to wait.

If you have any problem you please contact LG Support.

or Reinstall Windows.

Defintely there wont be any major Problem!

Dont be scared!:)

Are you able to see the BIOS screen or does the monitor not start up at all?
