netflix's instant play feature only works on windows right now. there is no hack/workaround because of DRM issues.

EDIT:
in addition, i suggest you vocalize your request for linux support by posting a comment on their blog:

Rumor is you can now view Netflix via Silverlight on Mac. Which I believe the Linux counterpart is Moonlight?

Can anyone verify this? If so, does it really work?

I'm able to watch Netflix streaming movies on my Ubuntu system using VirtualBox running Windows XP. I put VirtualBox in full screen mode, and the movies look and sound as good as they do on Windows. That's the easiest solution for me...

Here is the website and download for Moonlighting -

http://www.mono-project.com/Moonlight

http://www.go-mono.com/moonlight/

I have tested it. Even though I have the correct browser and Moonlighting, due to the fact that the website on Netflix is recognizing the Linux OS it is not allowing the direct downloading. I am sure their is a way to make the OS checking verify different, but I don't the time or immediate knowledge to change that.

Anyone want to take a crack at it the info you need is above. Enjoy!

i have the playback working fine on a mac. messed around with mono but it was a pita to build. if you want to test it with your build you could try faking how your browser reports itself. I know you can do this in Konqueror and I bet there is a plugin in for Firefox that does it. Just tell it your are OSX, Firefox.
