View Full Version : [ubuntu] Complete system freeze from a certain applet??

Alright, I found this site for a local bakery (http://www.heathersartisanbakery.com/), but every time I open the page, with in a minute when the applet loads (it's java, I turned java off and it did not load) my computer stops recognizing keyboard commands, and the mouse randomly freezes. I have to do a hard power off to kill it. I cannot close the window, move it, or open anything else.

It is obviously a bug, but where should I report it? Ubuntu's bug tracker, FF3's, or to Java?

Perhaps someone here will know a fix for this, since roaming the net with a potential computer freezing Java applet lurking about is just windows-ish.

The applet makes a call to something in ActiveX in IE. It does something slightly funky to java in other systems apparently. I wonder if this would happen on a Mac.

The work around:

Use the User Agent Switcher (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/59) addon for FF3 & the MediaWrap (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1879) addon. (The media wrapper is the important one. I just like adding an extra plug for the User Agent switcher because it is bloody useful... now, if I could just get Netflix to operate with the media wrapper...)
